Achieving positive outcomes
in four key areas

Our rigorous evaluation enables us to measure the impact of our program and we use these results, plus feedback and experiences of participants to inform the future design of our programs. Our key outcome areas are:

  • Young people are the least likely of any age group to seek help. Through mentoring, young people have more capability to ask for help and a stronger likelihood of accepting it. They develop trust in adults, improve communication skills and can find support and resources.

  • With higher levels of hope, young people improve socially and academically. They are able to set and achieve goals and develop a growth mindset with mentor support. Hope is a buffer against stress, anxiety, and suicide ideation.

  • Mentoring improves a young person’s ability to bounce back after stress and enhances recovery. Mentors help young people to increase confidence, adapt to new situations, develop coping skills to deal with adversity and overcome challenges.

  • Through mentoring, young people improve their relationship with peers and teachers. Mentees attend school more often, resulting in increased grades, higher school completion rates, stronger academic confidence and better economic outcomes.

Placing young people
at the centre of what we do

At Raise we have strong evaluation and quality assurance processes. Using robust surveys, interviews and focus groups we capture the voices of our mentees, mentors, school partners, parents and carers to inform our program design and delivery.

  • Collect

We use surveys to collect information at the start and the end of the program for mentees and mentors. We collect data from Program Counsellors, school contacts and parents, holding focus groups and interviews to provide validation and context.

  • Analyse

We validate the impacts reported and then analyse the change in mentee and mentor impact data to determine whether there has been growth. We analyse the data to identify how we can improve the program design and delivery.

  • Review

We use the combination of our survey data and interview data to draw evaluation findings and working with all our teams for further context, we develop actions to inform our continuous improvement plans for our programs.

  • Communicate

We share our findings and plans for improvement across the organisation through an internal report and externally we share a wealth of detail and findings as well as demonstrating our impact through our latest evaluation report.

Research led and
evidence based

Raise Foundation meets or exceeds all the Australian Youth Mentoring Network Benchmarks and we conduct regular audits of our program against them.
